MS Publisher

One of the things about a website is often you will want to produce graphic files, normally *.jpeg, most often for banners and other things. Very Often a core requirement has to do with the size of the graphic.

Numbers of you use MS Publisher for a number of tasks and MS Publisher will work as an adequate producer of such files.

The first thing you need to know is the required size of the banner, remember that if it is a rotator banner then they all have to be the same size, pixel perfect, to save any dramas. Let’s assume the size might be 1000 x 250 pixels.

In MS Publisher create a new document. In the options menu change the size units from centimetres or inches to pixels, and then change the page size to 1000 x 250 pixels.

Then in publisher this is the size of the canvas that you are working with, add photos, shading and text to you hearts content. It may be handy to create a rectangle base plate the full size, in this case 100 x 250. Add shading, dimensions, and all the other things on top of the base plate. Once you are finished select all and save as picture file, and choose jpeg for the format.

The resulting file should be a jpeg exactly 1000×250 pixels ready to be uploaded to your website for the desired application.

If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliche that must have been left behind in the Sixties, that's his problem. Love and peace are eternal.
