Philip Barrington Web Design started this site to explore the what WordPress could offer as a Content Management System [CMS]. WordPress is a very capable solution especially where there is no need for unwanted complexities, which is often. The current theme is mobile device friendly and that is a bonus.
I also use other systems. Dot Net Nuke - www.philipbarrington.net. Another example of WordPress is found at www.philipbarrington.com.au
Which one is best? Not always a simple answer. It depends on what you want. It also depends on what you think you want to do later. The answer is what is best for what you want to achieve. Philip Barrington Web Design can help you decide.
Philip Barrington Web Design serves small business owners. Many SME's are not being found, even when people know who they are looking for. A person searching will use Google as the first (often only) point of search. When they find the competition first they look no further. This is often true when the competition is a National Company. I want to help change that for my clients. If you think I can help, let me know.
There are five questions that the front page should address: Who: I am Philip Barrington. I run a small business website (CMS) development firm. I help small business get on the web and get their message out without being run over by either the competition or the costs.
What: The sites I develop focus on business needs. This website uses WordPress as the technology underneath. I also work with DotNetNuke, and I have used Xara, KompoZer and Visual Web Developer, Front Page, and Notepad to create and manage sites.
Where: On the Web! That is an easy answer. Philip Barrington Web Design is in Caves Beach (Swansea, Newcastle), and most of my clients to be in and around Newcastle, the Hunter and the Central Coast and Sydney. I also have clients on the South Coast (Ulladulla).
When: The time to act is now. A web project, depending on size and complexity may well be up and running within 3 weeks to a month or two. Sometimes there is a juggling act to make the calendar work.
Why: The Idea of my business is Small Business, perhaps a tradesman who has done a good job, and then someone (a client or a friend) goes looking in Google for the person and they find the competition.
Why: I have been working in/as/with the Small Business sector including financial reporting systems for some 20 years now, and I believe I have a touch for the pragmatic and real needs of Small Business, including the need to keep the lid on the cash tin.
